Establishment of
"Mobile Phone Contents subcommittee"

As the transition to network society advances rapidly nowadays, development of contents applicable to network is expected to bring a new possibility for computer entertainment software manufacturers. Supply of contents to mobile communication equipment such as mobile phone is one of the most promising new business fields.

The number of users of information provider service using mobile phones exceeds 30 million. Access to web sites using user' s mobile terminals is expected to increase considerably in future. In addition, Java will be installed in the next generation mobile terminals making it possible to provide an environment for entertainment contents service. This new field is unknown to us and extensive cooperative relationship should be established across the boundaries of the conventional industrial worlds to promote this business.

Therefore, Technical Committee of CESA established "Mobile Phone Contents subcommittee" as a gateway to promote smooth exchange of opinions and information among game industries and mobile communication organizations.

The purpose of this subcommittee is to exchange positive opinions related to the needs, technical information and business schedules among game software manufacturers, carriers and mobile phone hardware manufactures as to the contents production for mobile phones and distribute them to the association members and the related people.

The role of this subcommittee is to summarize and disseminate mobile phone contents related information to member organizations as a gateway to mobile phone contents in this industry.

We are appreciated if you could understand the concept of this subcommittee and provide us your kind cooperation and suggestion.
