Computer Entertainment Software Association (CESA, chairman: Kagemasa Kozuki, location: Nishi-Shimbashi, Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan) announces the scheduling of "TOKYO GAME SHOW 2002", to be held at Nippon Convention Center (Makuhari Messe at Chiba-city, Chiba, Japan) from September 20 (Fri.) through 22 (Sun.).

This will be the 12th occasion of TOKYO GAME SHOW since it was first held in 1996, and will be held as an annual event from this year.

This will be co-organized by Nikkei Business Publications, Inc. (president: Yukoh Kawamura, location: Hirakawa-cho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan) to further strengthen its position as the world's biggest show in the computer entertainment industry.

Nikkei Business Publications, Inc., a member of Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Inc.(NIKKEI) Group which is a comprehensive news/information organization covering mainly economic news fields, is one of Japan's largest publishing companies, providing cutting edge information on business and technology. Projects to which Nikkei Business Publications, Inc. has been committed cover a wide variety of areas including Internet business projects and exhibition management, with publication as its business core. Today the company organizes eight large exhibitions annually, which include the largest comprehensive IT trade show in Asia, WPC EXPO (former WORLD PC EXPO, renamed this year).

Through the joint efforts of both promoters, the new-born "TOKYO GAME SHOW 2002" will dynamically present the following:

* Expansion of 'Traders and Press Day' (September 20)

- 'Traders and Press Day' will be extended from its conventional half day duration to one whole day so that more industry-related people are encouraged to visit.
- Conferences will be held for business persons involved in the computer entertainment industry.

* Diversified exhibitors

- Not only CESA's member companies but also more non-member companies inside and outside of Japan are encouraged to participate in the show to exhibit a wide variety of game titles and related products/services.

* Expanded exhibition fields

- Although game software is the core theme of the show, a wide range of computer entertainment fields will be covered, including peripheral equipment, communication services/on-line applications, edu-tainment items, mobile contents, audio-visual software/hardware and their sales.

* Widened range of visitors

- In addition to conventional core users, a wider spectrum of users such as light users, children and their parents will be encouraged to visit the show.

Plans will be developed to satisfy the variety of expected visitors by conducting assorted stage programs including the familiar CESA Armature Game Awards Ceremony.

CESA and Nikkei Business Publications, Inc. will jointly make every effort to further strengthen TOKYO GAME SHOW's established role as a premier event for providing the latest information on computer entertainment and providing excitement, dreams and hopes for people throughout the world.
